The United Nations Investigative Team to Promote Accountability for Crimes Committed by Da'esh/ISIS (UNITAD) on Sunday handed over to the Kurdistan Regional Government's Coordinator for International Advocacy, Dindar Zebari, several pieces of information that were processed in this file.[/size]
[size=45]“This information was received from judicial and non-judicial authorities in the Kurdistan Region in support of the team’s mandate. UNITAD has enhanced this information by tagging it for classification and analysis for legal review. This represents an important step forward in facilitating the rapid identification and processing of information relevant to investigations when used with appropriate e-discovery software,” the statement said.[/size]
[size=45]The statement stressed the importance of this delivery, saying, “This organized version of the information represents a significant advance in our efforts to support legal and investigative processes in the Kurdistan Region. This information is essential to enhance accountability for crimes committed by ISIS inside Iraq or globally,” stressing the gratitude of the investigative team (UNITAD) to the Kurdistan Regional Government for “the constructive cooperation over the years.”[/size]
[size=45]On 11 July 2024, another copy of this information was delivered to the KRG in its original, unaltered form as created and digitally stored when collected by the team, in order to protect the use and integrity of such evidence in judicial proceedings.[/size]
