The Center for Market Research and Consumer Protection discussed the possibility of closing the import file and relying on the national product.
The workshop was opened by Assistant Professor Dr. Yahya Kamal Khalil, which was held in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Maher Yahya Salloum, representing the President of Baghdad University, representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, the Central Authority for Standardization and Quality Control/Ministry of Planning, the Ministry of Commerce, State Institutions and Professors and Members of The University of Baghdad.
Khalil said: "The workshop came from demands to end the import file and rely on the national product, which is enough to support legitimate demands in providing jobs for graduates and eliminating unemployment, as well as providing hard currency that is wasted daily as a result of importing foreign products."
 
Economic reform
"Our work today is at the center of the country's economic reform and development for the better, and one of the main obstacles monitored by the Center for Market Research and Consumer Protection is the weakness of the marketing mechanism as a result of many obstacles that actually exist, and the workshop has contributed to the development of solutions," he said.
"This workshop was aimed at highlighting the industrial sector, which is a key pillar of the development of the national economy, as a result of its commitmentto all economic activities, and the development and increase of its contribution to GDP is a fundamental goal that must be pursued towards achieving it in Iraq," he said.
After 2003, iraq's industrial sector suffered a severe and crippling reality in all industrial facilities and its links to the public and private sectors.
The workshop discussed three topics that included the reality of industry in Iraq and the challenges it faces, as well as developing future visions for the development of the national industrial sector.

The workshop also discussed seven working papers such as the reality of the national industry and the role of the Market Research and Consumer Protection Center with the support of the national product, the protection and support of the local product to face the imported product, as well as the presence of the products of the General Company for Construction Industries, as well as the date industry.
She also discussed the reality of the industrial sector and its problems and how to promote it, as well as a historical overview of Samarra medicines/ video lecture / General Company for the Manufacture of Medicines and Medical Supplies - Samarra).
 
Development of production
After submitting the working papers, the lectures were discussed and exchanged views on ways to develop production processes, market the local product, encourage consumers to demand it, reduce imported goods and make it competitive with international goods in other countries, cooperate with the competent authorities and the public and private sector in this regard and raise consumer awareness of the local product among citizens.
The workshop ended with a number of recommendations and proposals and the distribution of certificates of appreciation to the panellists and committees contributing to the work in recognition of their efforts in the success of this workshop.
