On Saturday, the deputies and officials of Kirkuk governorate issued a series of decisions due to their dissatisfaction with the governorate's "marginalization" and not granting it its dues.
The mayor of Kirkuk, Falah Yaji, said during a press conference attended by NRT Arabia correspondent (May 15, 2021), that "private generators will continue to operate as in the month of Ramadan," indicating that "the coming days will determine the price of an ampere, but it will definitely rise from the past months due to the shortage of hours." Processing from the national network. "
Bayji added that "the Kirkuk quota is 550 megawatts, and the ratio reached to it is only 800 megawatts," stressing that "deputies of the province have a responsibility to communicate with the competent authorities to increase the number of national electricity hours and increase the kerosene share."
For his part, Deputy Arshad Al-Salihi said, "The Ministry of Electricity suffers from a shortage of gas, and therefore the national quota allocated to Kokkook Governorate is being reduced."
He added that "the solution lies in the cabinet, and communication with him has reached a dead end," calling for an "extraordinary session to find a solution to the Kirkuk problem."
Salhi pointed out that "the Council of Ministers is in charge of increasing the quota allocated to Kirkuk from kerosene and the national quota."
It is noteworthy that the members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives from Kirkuk governorate held an emergency meeting today, Saturday, in the presence of MP Arshad Al-Salihi, Ahmad Haidar and Rebwar Taha, as well as the Mayor of the Kirkuk Center Falah Yaegli, in the presence of the Director of Kirkuk Electricity Distribution Laith.
The meeting discussed the issue of the Baghdad government continuing to "marginalize" Kirkuk and not grant its dues from the national grid, which exacerbated the power outage crisis in conjunction with the onset of summer and high temperatures.
