Praise for the decisions of Baghdad Governorate regarding “private generators”

The decisions issued by Baghdad Governorate, yesterday, Monday, regarding the operation of generators, processing hours, and amperage pricing in the capital; With parliamentary welcome and praise, amid emphasis on its effectiveness in organizing the work of private generators.
Kazem Al-Touki, a member of the Parliamentary Energy Committee, told Al-Sabah: “There is a possibility for the process of organizing the work of private and government generators through arranging work between governors and heads of administrative units in Baghdad and oil products, and in accordance with the legal articles that oblige generator owners to operate operations.”
He stated, “Cooperation with the Ministry of Electricity in providing the governorate with hours for cutting and preparing energy will facilitate the process of determining the generators’ need for fuel, according to what is approved.”
He stressed, “The Ministry of Oil has a database of private generators that receive the fuel share through a list from the electricity sub-departments and according to the capacity of the generator, so that a schedule is approved between the generators and their operating hours.”
For his part, a member of the Parliamentary Services Committee, Baqir Al-Saadi, confirmed in an interview with “Al-Sabah” that “the file of private generators is of importance in the Parliamentary Committee, especially after the Prime Minister’s initiative to improve the reality of electrical current and the efforts made by the Ministry.”
He added, “The issue of setting meters for operating hours, and setting a date for collecting funds, contributes to more regulating the work of generators and achieving energy stability.”
Al-Saadi pointed out, “The committee will hold accountable and monitor the work of the generators, especially those who receive the fuel share from them, and we expect that a year from now there will be no need for private generators after activating solar energy in several governorates to provide energy.”
The Governor of Baghdad, Muhammad Jaber Al-Atta, said yesterday, Monday, in a statement: “It was decided to oblige generator owners to install a meter that shows the number of operating hours of their generator and the amount of energy supplied to citizens, and to also obligate them to collect financial dues from subscribers at the end of the month and not at its beginning, to ensure justice.” Pointing to “obligating the Electricity Department in the capital to provide the governorate and all administrative units with the number of hours of national electricity supply, in order to know what has been prepared for citizens of the national electrical current and generator.”
For his part, the Baghdad Operations Commander confirmed that “Economic Security in the National Security Service will undertake the implementation of these decisions, and the Operations Command and police stations will support the follow-up of these procedures and the implementation of the decisions issued by the Baghdad Governorate, as they are in the interest of the citizen.”
