, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein revealed, on Saturday, the files he had discussed with his Pakistani counterpart, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
"We discussed the file of terrorism that represents a threat to the region, Pakistan and Iraqi society," said Foreign Minister Fuad Hussain, during a joint press conference with his Pakistani counterpart.
Hussain added, "Many terrorist leaders in Iraq had training courses in Pakistan and adopted the same terrorist ideology of terrorists in Pakistan," stressing that "cooperation in this field is vital."
He stressed, "Fighting terrorism is part of the policy that we follow in Iraq, and we cooperate with other countries in order to fight terrorism in Iraq and the region."
He continued, "We discussed with the Pakistani side the issue of exporting oil and strengthening relations, and we look forward to strong and intimate relations with neighboring Pakistan."
He pointed out that "the security file in the region was on the table for dialogue with the Pakistani side."
For his part, the Pakistani Foreign Minister, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, said during the conference: "We are looking forward to new cooperation relations with Iraq, and we can help each other in the health field, specifically combating the Corona pandemic."
Qureshi added, "Pakistan can help Iraq in the field of food security, and is looking forward to importing Iraqi oil as well as helping in rebuilding cities and rehabilitating Iraqi infrastructure."
He expressed, "Pakistan's readiness to help Iraq in the industrial field."
On the issue of terrorism, Qureshi emphasized that "both countries have suffered from terrorism," stressing that "cooperation in combating terrorism is now taking place between the two countries."
He continued, "Happy to discuss with my Iraqi counterpart the visit of Pakistani citizens to Iraq and vice versa."
He pointed out that "the Pakistani government has started implementing the visitor system for the purpose of visiting Pakistani citizens to the holy shrines in Iraq."
During his speech, Qureshi called on his Iraqi counterpart to "visit Pakistan and attend the next meeting to discuss the situation in Palestine." Ended 29 / A43
