{Local: Al Furat News} The Parliamentary Oil and Energy Committee called on the government to change its policy towards gas production and benefit from what is wasted from it daily, indicating that investing gas in the country is better than importing it from neighboring countries.

Committee member Ghaleb Muhammad Ali said in a press interview, "Iraq owns many untapped gas fields, and we see that the government is importing gas instead of producing it," noting that "there are companies that can during a year produce associated gas in order to use it to produce electricity as is the case." in the Kurdistan region.
He added that "the issue of importing gas in order to meet the country's need from it has become a habit and an ongoing phenomenon without the government thinking about how to produce gas that is wasted daily without the country benefiting from it."
On the other hand, MP Ali ruled out that "parliament will question any minister or official in the coming period because some of its members are busy in their electoral campaigns, and the other section will not be nominated and will not attend the sessions."
