    {Economist: Al-Furat News} Oil Minister, Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail, confirmed, on Wednesday, that the project to build 5 electric power stations to generate energy will be followed by other projects.

    The Minister of Oil said, during a joint press conference held with his Emirati counterpart Suhail bin Muhammad Al Mazrouei and the head of the National Investment Commission, Suha Daoud Najjar, that "Iraq has committed to several programs to implement clean energy projects."
    He added, "The project to build 5 electric power plants will be followed by other projects, and Iraq is working to generate 7500 megawatts of renewable energy."
    For his part, the UAE Minister of Energy pointed out that "Iraq and the Iraqis preferred the Emirates in its early stages of construction," stressing that "we are committed to implementing the largest project of solar power plants in Iraq,"
    and announced "the UAE's readiness to meet Iraq's need for renewable energy."
    And the head of the Investment Authority indicated, "The contract for the implementation of the solar power stations will generate two thousand megawatts, and that investors are pumping huge money into Iraq and it is in the interest of the economy."
    She stated during the press conference that "the current contract will serve to meet 20% of the planned need for renewable energy."
    On Wednesday, under the patronage and attendance of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, a signing ceremony took place for the construction of five electric power plants using solar energy, between the Ministry of Electricity and the National Investment Authority on the Iraqi side, and the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) on the Emirati side.
