A source close to the atmosphere of the backroom negotiations of the political forces expressed great confidence that Muqtada al-Sadr and Nuri al-Maliki will spoil each other's chance of winning the position of prime minister.
The source said that al-Sadr, as the winner of the largest number of parliamentary seats, will not accept in any way al-Maliki as prime minister for a third term. The source expected that the current bazaar of negotiation and bargaining would be subject to the same conditions that were associated with the issue of forming previous governments, pointing to consensus, bargaining and negotiation between the political parties.
