Former Deputy Prime Minister Baha Al-Araji confirmed that the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada Al-Sadr, may support Al-Kazemi for a second term.
Al-Araji stated in a televised interview followed by NRT Arabia, (November 2, 2021), that “the choice of the prime minister must be consensual by everyone,” noting that “the coordinating framework opposed Al-Kazemi’s choice for a second term on the lips of Al-Maliki and his leaders.”
He stressed, "Al-Kazemi deserves to receive a second term because he worked hard and sincerely and was able to overcome the difficulties greatly," explaining that "he does not belong to any bloc, and the Sadrist movement can nominate him again as (the largest bloc)."
