Earth News/ Today, Wednesday, Representative Basem Khashan filed an appeal with the Federal Court regarding reopening the nomination for the presidency of the republic for a second time.
Khashan said, in a statement received by Earth News, "Today, I submitted to the Federal Court an appeal against the decision of the Presidency of the House of Representatives No. (4), which includes opening the door for candidacy for the position of President of the Republic, because it was issued because it violates articles (59 / second) and (72 /). Second/B) of the Constitution and Article (2) of the Law on the Provisions of Candidacy for the Post of President of the Republic.
Khashan demanded, according to the statement, that the court "issue a loyalty order to stop all procedures resulting from this decision."
And he continued, “I submitted an appeal against the decision of the Presidency of the Council to refrain from calling for the convening of the Council in the last days of the inevitable constitutional period for the election of the Speaker of Parliament, 8/2/2022, nor on any other day, and I referred to Federal Court Decision No. (51/Federal/2010). Which I see as a grave violation because it enables the president and the government to continue exercising their duties for four years, if a third of the council members insist on boycotting the sessions.”
Earlier today, Wednesday, the Legal Adviser to the Legislation Department in the House of Representatives, Ghazi Faisal, issued a clarification regarding the decision to reopen the candidacy for the presidency.
