A member of the State of Law coalition, Ghassan Abu Ragheef, stated, on Wednesday, that the problem of electric energy needs radical solutions, represented by a reformist development renaissance by the Iraqi government instead of relying on neighboring countries to supply the country with electricity.
Abu Ragheef told "The Information", that "the problem of electric power is eternal, especially after importing electric stations after 2011 as gas stations," noting that "Iraq was forced to rely externally to supply it with natural gas and electric power after successive governments took over that did not have any significant economic achievement. “.
He added, "The problem of the electrical file requires an integrated national project, financial allocation, a work plan for electricity, and an attempt to find solutions and radical treatments for this important file," noting that "Iraq needs a reform development renaissance by the Iraqi government instead of the prosthetic solutions represented by linking with the Gulf to import electricity. instead of manufacturing it internally.
The Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Adel Karim had discussed, earlier, with the Qatari Minister of Petroleum and Energy Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the possibility of supplying Qatari gas to Iraq to treat and fill the shortage of gas to maintain the momentum of the production stations.
