Shafaq News/ Member of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani announced on Thursday that he had submitted a request to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers to form the Iraqi Consumer Protection Council.
Al-Sudani said in a statement today, that he based his request on Consumer Protection Law No. 1 of 2010 in order to ensure that citizens obtain goods and materials at natural prices away from monopoly and speculation.
Yesterday, Wednesday, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi directed the security services concerned to pursue anyone who begs himself to benefit negatively at the expense of the citizen, and to illegally trade in the citizens' food basket, and to hold him accountable according to the law.
He also directed to monitor strategic stocks and compensate for the shortfall, ensure the flow of food baskets distribution on time and exact quantities, and secure materials that are experiencing scarcity, whether by stimulating the local product, or importing from various sources and origins, as well as preparing silos, and preparing storage energy in preparation for and securing harvest seasons.
Iraq is suffering from the high prices of goods and foodstuffs in light of the war between Russia and Ukraine, and the federal government has taken a package of decisions to confront this crisis that afflicts the country and the world at large.
