    In light of the abundance of imported goods that fill the Iraqi market, the government is moving towards activating the consumer protection law during the next stage, in order to ensure the quality of goods and support the local product.  
    A member of the Economy, Industry and Trade Committee in the House of Representatives, Ruqaya al-Nouri, said in an interview with the official newspaper, followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that the government represented by its president, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, sought to support the national industry, by encouraging businessmen and local and international companies to invest in Iraq in order to develop the product. Domestic, pointing out that there are important steps aimed at making Iraq one of the successful industrialized countries in the region and the world.  
    And she added that the government is seeking to activate the application of the consumer protection law after the country's industries, which are characterized by cheap prices, poor quality and lack of conformity to quality control, invaded the Iraqi market.  
    Parliament enacted the Consumer Protection Law in 2010, with the aim of guaranteeing consumer basic rights and protecting them from illegal practices that lead to harm, in addition to raising consumer awareness.  
    The law stipulates the prohibition of any act that violates the rules of importing, producing, or marketing commodities, detracting from their benefits, or leading to misleading the consumer.
