, the Federal Integrity Commission revealed, on Sunday, "legal violations" in granting an investment license to a "huge" project in Nineveh Governorate, indicating that the value of the project amounts to 255 billion dinars.
The Commission's Investigation Department stated, in a statement received by Mawazine News, that "the staff of the Nineveh Investigation Directorate, which was transferred to the Investment Commission in the governorate, monitored several legal violations that accompanied the process of granting the investment license to establish a housing project and a tourist city in the governorate."
The department added, "The area of the plot of land allocated for the construction of a residential (Karah) project and a tourist city in Al-Qosh canton amounted to (248) dunums, while the value of the project amounted to (254.956,000,000) billion dinars."
She explained, "The directorate's staff managed, in a separate operation, to apprehend an accused for using his sister's position for personal benefit," noting that "the brother of the director of a branch of Al-Rasheed Bank in Nineveh resorted to opening a current bank account in the aforementioned bank, and receiving checks." Citizens’ compensation for those affected by terrorist operations, and the deposit of the amounts of those instruments in his account, in return for a commission he takes from them.
The department pointed out that "the organization of two fundamentalist arrest reports, and presenting them to the judge of the Nineveh Investigation Court specialized in integrity issues, who decided to conduct the investigation in accordance with the provisions of Articles (331 and 340) of the amended Penal Code No. (111 of 1969)."
