The Federal Integrity Commission announced the implementation of operations to detect violations in a contract worth up to 4.5 billion dinars concluded by Karbala Governorate.
The Media and Government Communications Office of the Authority stated, according to a statement, that “the Karbala Investigation Office team, which moved to the Contracts Department in the governorate, detected violations in a contract to supply wheels to the governorate council and local administration, which the governorate concluded at a value of (4,496,810,000) four billion dinars with one of the companies within the allocations for emergency support for food security and development,” indicating “the contract was made with a company that does not have the right to engage in commercial and import activities, in addition to the existence of distortion and change in the company’s name in the referral letter and the minutes of the Tender Evaluation and Analysis Committee and the Central Review Committee, which resulted in a waste of public money.”
He added, "It was revealed that the Real Estate Bank in the governorate did not take legal action against those who were late in paying long-term real estate loans and Central Bank initiative loans that were granted for construction and building additions, as well as loans for businessmen and employees, old private loans and cars," noting that "the bank did not organize an opening record for the year 2022, and the balance of long-term loans did not match between the registry and the electronic calculator."
He added, "The team noted that the governorate had not taken the necessary legal measures against one of the contracting companies that was delaying the implementation of the project to pave the streets of Al-Risala neighborhood and connect electricity to an integrated ground network within the time period specified in the contract concluded."
