Today, Monday, gold prices witnessed their highest levels since mid-March as the Russian-Ukrainian crisis soured risk sentiment and pushed investors to safety in bullion.
Spot gold was up 0.5% at $1,98.51 an ounce, as of 04:45 GMT, hitting its highest level in a month.
Bullion is a safe store of value in times of political and economic crisis.
Yields on the benchmark 10-year US Treasury rose to their highest level since December 2018, curbing progress in zero-yielding gold.
Spot silver prices also rose 0.4% to $25.79 an ounce, platinum increased 1.1% to $1,000.82, and palladium rose 1.6% to $2,406.93. Ended 29 / 92
