, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi chaired, today, Tuesday, the seventeenth regular session of the Council of Ministers.
During the session, the overall general situation in the country was discussed, economic and service files were discussed, and the ministries and competent authorities implemented procedures for the recommendations and government decisions taken, in order to achieve the desired goals.
The Council of Ministers began its session by discussing the issue of desertification and the impact of climatic changes on Iraq. Where it hosted the Council of Ministers in charge of managing the Ministry of Environment and the advanced cadre in the Ministries of Environment and Agriculture; To find out the impact of climate change on the country and government measures taken to combat desertification, and the importance of providing vegetation cover in some desert areas.
Al-Kazemi directed the need to take urgent measures to reduce the climatic effects that were evident in the country through dust storms and their health, environmental and economic impacts.
Al-Kazemi stressed that the government is supportive of any project or program capable of facing environmental challenges, and directed a number of relevant ministries to hold an expanded meeting; To discuss and address the issue of desertification and come up with feasible proposals.
The Cabinet reviewed a special report on hemorrhagic fever, which was reviewed by the technical agent of the Ministry of Agriculture, which included the total injuries recorded in some governorates, and the measures taken by the Ministry.
The Council of Ministers directed the need to redouble efforts to control the disease and prevent its spread; This requires intensification of awareness campaigns.
The council recommended providing the necessary support to the Ministry of Agriculture to confront the disease, providing spraying and dipping pesticides to combat ticks, providing the necessary medicines to combat the disease, as well as logistical support for the extension campaigns carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Cabinet decided the following:
- Excluding the Ministry of Agriculture from the instructions for implementing government contracts (contracting methods in Article 3 of them), in a way that enables it to take the necessary measures to control hemorrhagic fever disease, and to disburse the amounts available to it, as an exception from the circular of the Ministry of Finance, and does not exceed its available And amounting to (1459972750) dinars, only one billion four hundred and fifty-nine million and nine hundred and seventy-two thousand seven hundred and fifty dinars, according to what is proven in the letter of the Ministry of Agriculture (12622) on May 10, 2022.
In the context of the session, Al-Kazemi was briefed on the progress of implementing government measures to confront the global economic crisis and mitigate its effects on citizens.
Al-Kazemi stressed that the government is closely following the developments of the global economic crisis, and is making great efforts to reduce its repercussions on Iraq, and made it clear that despite the magnitude of the economic challenges to the whole world, the government has succeeded in confronting them.
The Prime Minister reviewed the security situation in the country, and praised the security forces of all kinds and their efforts in chasing down the remnants of ISIS terrorist remnants and crime gangs in the country, and stressed that he directed all security services to stress the pursuit of violators of the prestige of the state, and not to be complacent towards those who tamper with the security of citizens and forcing everyone respect for the rule of law.
The session witnessed a review of the epidemiological report, and the measures taken; To confront the Corona pandemic, and developments in the work of the committee to strengthen government measures in the areas of prevention and health awareness control; To limit the spread of the virus, and the efforts of the Ministry of Health in providing medical supplies and securing vaccines.
After the Council of Ministers discussed the topics on the agenda, it decided the following:
First / amending Paragraph (1) of the Council of Ministers Resolution (379) for the year 2021 as follows:
- The Ministry of Finance took over the financing of an amount of (3,000,000) dinars, only three billion dinars to The Ministry of Agriculture to implement the sand dune stabilization project, in implementation of paragraphs (1 and 2) mentioned in the letter of the Federal Office of Financial Supervision No. (1/1/15/2443) dated February 3, 2021 attached to linking the Cabinet Resolution (15 of 2022).
- The Ministry of Finance finances one billion dinars to the Ministry of Agriculture / Forestry and Desertification Department for the purpose of paying the dues of its contractors according to the decision of the Council of Ministers (15 of 2022). Ended 29 / h
