Today, Saturday, the Federal Ministry of Health announced the opening of the largest rehabilitation center for drug users, confirming the guarantee of confidentiality of patients undergoing treatment.
The ministry's spokesman, Saif Al-Badr, said, "Tomorrow, Sunday, the largest rehabilitation center for drug users will open in Rusafa," noting that "the center is the largest in terms of its size in Baghdad and all the governorates of Iraq."
He added, "The ministry has a number of centers in Baghdad, which are Ibn Rushd, and in Diyala and Basra, but the family is few."
Al-Badr continued: "As for the center that will be opened, it is not a hospital, but rather a center to provide psychological and social support, as well as health support after helping him quit drugs."
He pointed out that "there is a higher committee to combat drugs, consisting of security, economic, border crossing points, and health."
He explained, "The role of the Ministry of Health will be through the psychological and health rehabilitation of addicts, and the treatment of symptoms and complications resulting from the use of dangerous drugs."
He stated, "There is a great shortage in the number of staff specialized in treating drug addicts, so the ministry needs great support," stressing that "qualified trainers and institutions for rehabilitation are insufficient."
He pointed out that "the Ministry of Health is a health technical body that does not impose provisions, and any person who is hesitant or apprehensive about reviewing the health institution, if the person is a drug user or any member of his family, does not hesitate to visit private centers, and we guarantee him complete confidentiality," stressing that "The Ministry of Health has nothing to do with his name or his phone number, and we are not prosecuted, we only provide health assistance."
