Al-Halbousi’s meeting with the heads of the political blocs ends without an agreement on the presidency of the republic
Abdul Wahed told Shafaq News Agency, "The meeting discussed the inclusion of some laws that are originally found in the Parliament papers sent by the Council of Ministers and include them in the agenda of the upcoming sessions."
She pointed out that "there is almost agreement to determine next week the beginning of the new legislative session sessions after the end of the legislative recess that lasted for one month."
And Abdel Wahed added, "The meeting also talked about the constitutional benefits," noting that "the House of Representatives is waiting for the political forces outside parliament, since the heads of political parties are the ones who decide the issue of the presidency and the ministers, after which it will be agreed to determine the session for electing the president of the republic."
The Head of the New Generation Bloc explained that "the meeting dealt with empowering the opposition within the parliamentary committees, whether it is in the presidencies of the committees or the first deputy."
And earlier today, Monday, a parliamentary source reported that a meeting was held between the Presidency of the House of Representatives and the heads of political blocs, to agree on setting a date for holding a session to elect the President of the Republic.
The source told Shafaq News Agency, "The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Muhammad al-Halbousi and his deputy, Shakhwan Abdullah, in the constitutional hall inside the parliament building."
The source added that "the meeting, which is being attended by the heads of the parliamentary political blocs, or their representatives."
