The General Company for Grain Trade, one of the formations of the Ministry of Trade, announced, on Thursday, the establishment of a celebration at the end of the marketing season in the governorates of the Kurdistan region, which included honoring the Minister of Trade and the ministry’s staff in the governorates of the region, as well as “a comprehensive assessment of the state of warehousing in the governorates of the Kurdistan Region.

Hanoun pointed out that the owners of the General Company for Grain Trade in the governorates of the region were able to absorb large quantities of wheat during the marketing season, and also succeeded in preventing the smuggling of quantities of wheat to and from the northern governorates, pointing out that the Minister of Trade in the regional government made exceptional efforts to support The activities of the marketing season and the success of the decisions of the Marketing Committee.
Hanoun continued, that the support enjoyed by the owners of the General Company for Grain Trade from Dr. Alaa Al-Jubouri, Minister of Trade, and his continuous follow-up also to marketing operations in the governorates of the Kurdistan region, as well as field supervision of marketing operations in these governorates.
Hanoun stressed that the interaction shown by the governorates of the region with the decisions of the marketing committee in the ministry resulted in the success of the marketing season and the receipt of quantities exceeding two million two hundred and 24 thousand tons, after expectations indicated that these quantities were not received, especially from the governorates of the region.
The Minister of Trade in the regional government had valued the support received by the ministry’s staff in Kurdistan from the Federal Ministry of Trade, appreciating this support, which he considered a passable way to overcome all outstanding problems between the region and the center with regard to the activity of the Ministry of Trade, which he confirmed was exceptional in all data.
The Director General of Grain Trade, Muhammad Hanoun, had inspected the wheat storage in Erbil and was briefed on the mechanisms to maintain the storage and the adoption of the marketing plan approved by the Ministry of Trade to distribute the wheat material to the private mills.
During his visit to Kurdistan, Hanoun met a number of private mill owners to see the mechanisms of work and explain the marketing plan carried out by the grain trading and grain processing companies to distribute wheat to citizens, reassuring that the regions of the region enjoy the same support as the rest of the provinces within the distribution of ration card items.
