[size=45]The Minister of Industry and Minerals chairs the meeting of the Fertilizers and Petrochemicals Committee and confirms the trend towards building and developing strategic industries in the country[/size]
[size=45]On Wednesday, corresponding to December 28, 2022, the Minister of Industry and Minerals, Prof. Dr. Khaled Battal Al-Najm, chaired the first meeting of the Fertilizers and Petrochemicals Committee in Iraq, in the presence of the members of the committee, including officials and stakeholders in the Board of Consultants, the National Investment Commission, and the ministries of industry, transport, finance, and oil, to discuss the work of the committee by studying companies’ requests. International company willing to invest to establish petrochemical and fertilizer projects in Iraq.[/size]
[size=45]The meeting dealt with discussions and deliberations on mechanisms and action plans for the next stage, which included:[/size]
[size=45]? Emphasis on strategic industries, especially the petrochemical industries and the fertilizer industry, according to a real vision and study to build and develop these industries in line with the directives of the government and the ministry.[/size]
[size=45]? Distribution of industrial projects to all governorates within a working paper according to the outputs of the meeting.[/size]
[size=45]? Solve the problems and obstacles facing the Nibras Petrochemical Project at a subsequent meeting and take the appropriate decisions.[/size]
[size=45]? The need for cooperation and joint coordination between the Ministry of Industry and Minerals and the Ministries of Finance, Oil and Transport and providing possible facilities to proceed with the Nibras petrochemical project.[/size]
[size=45]? The possibility of holding a conference and inviting international companies, developers and investors to demonstrate the importance of strategic industries in the province of Basra.[/size]
[size=45]It is noteworthy that the basis for the formation of the Fertilizers and Petrochemicals Committee in Iraq came in implementation of what was stated in the report of the integrated energy strategy in Iraq prepared by the Board of Advisors in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers in cooperation with BOOZ & CO in 2013, which represents the plan for the extraction and exploitation of oil and gas resources for the years 2013-2030.[/size]
