The representative of the State of Law Coalition, Asaad Al-Bazuni, confirmed that the House of Representatives is proceeding with the procedures for amending the Provincial Councils Law.
Al-Bazuni said that the majority of political forces support changing the election law and returning to one electoral district, noting that the holding of elections is currently dependent on the resolution of the budget law in order to start discussing election mechanisms.
He added that the provincial elections law needs amendments as a result of the many comments received by the deputies.
He stressed that local council elections have become an absolute necessity, pointing to the Council's keenness to proceed with the necessary amendments to the Provincial Councils Law.
