The Baghdad Municipality is embarking on an aerial and on-site survey of agricultural lands

The Amanat Baghdad has initiated an aerial and site survey of state-owned agricultural lands to convert them into residential ones, in implementation of Cabinet Resolution No. 320.
Saad Al-Bukhati, the administrative assistant to the Director of Public Relations and Media of the Municipality, Saad Al-Bukhati, told Al-Sabah: The municipal departments, in implementation of Cabinet Resolution No. 320 and all previous decisions, including Resolution 581 of 1981 regarding converting the gender of state-owned agricultural lands into residential ones, have begun to carry out an aerial and on-site survey to inventory all lands. To limit the number of fixed structures and residents within a period of time specified by 45 days.
He added that the Council of Ministers, since the issuance of Resolution 320, set a period of 90 days to complete the expropriation operations, indicating that the law
It is permitted to transfer lands in which there is construction and regular services.
He pointed out that the law has many positive facts, including that the citizen used to live in an unofficial and random location, while he now has the right to own a house and a legal document, as well as take a loan from the housing fund and banks, in addition to reducing informal areas.
Al-Bukhati stressed that the Municipality is obligated, after converting the type or gender of lands, to provide all services and infrastructure, being within its administrative borders.
He pointed out that there are 168 agricultural areas on both sides of Karkh and Rusafa, many of which are on a regular basis and conform to the ownership conditions, explaining that the plots will be sorted according to the applicable laws.
And the Council of Ministers decided, in its sixth regular session held on 11/28/2022, to approve the instructions for changing the gender of land from agricultural to residential, including the amendment of the Baghdad Municipality and municipal institutions in the governorates to the basic design of cities, and changing the different uses of lands on which housing units are built randomly and owned by the state. Before issuing this decision, the Municipality of Baghdad and the municipal institutions in the governorates prepared sectoral designs for the areas covered by the provisions of this decision, in a manner consistent with the design of modern cities.
