The "spring break" brings the region's tourism sector into a stage of recovery

The cities of the Kurdistan region, including Erbil, are witnessing a remarkable recovery in the tourism sector, after the end of the first semester and the start of the spring break in schools and universities.
The "groups" flock through tourism companies and those coming with their private vehicles from various governorates to the cities of the region to enjoy the mountainous nature.

The official spokesman for the General Authority for Tourism in the Kurdistan Region, Ibrahim Abdul-Majeed, told Al-Sabah: The region generally receives large numbers of tourists in the winter season, particularly with the start of the spring break, when summer resorts are covered with snow, especially Mount Korek in Erbil, which is the destination for most of the tourists. Families and young people, as well as the rest of the cities of the region, to enjoy and relax in the scenic and beautiful scenery.
He added that the authority, in cooperation with the security services at the checkpoints, provides all facilities and flexible procedures without delay to tourists, so that they can easily enter the land and air border crossings.
Abdul Majeed indicated that the regional government seeks to develop the tourism sector and increase the number of tourists, especially since their numbers exceeded over 6 million during the past year, and we hope that the number will increase this year according to the plan set by the Tourism Authority.
For his part, Abdullah Ahmed, a specialist in economic affairs, told Al-Sabah: Tourism in the Kurdistan region is an important source for workers in the private sector, as purchasing power increases in all cities, especially districts, tourist areas, markets, restaurants and kiosks, as well as in hotels, malls and markets. When tourists come from the provinces.
He added that the winter season is witnessing a kind of stagnation compared to the summer season, as many workers in various fields are affected by the lack of tourists in general, and most of them are waiting for the start of the spring break in order to improve their financial situation.
He pointed out that many street vendors, owners of shops, restaurants and small kiosks in all summer resorts in the region depend on tourists for their financial income and daily sustenance.
In turn, Ali Al-Baghdadi, the owner of a tourism company, told Al-Sabah: There is a great desire by families to go to the city of Erbil, as it contains a large number of summer resorts and its hotels are characterized by good specifications and reasonable prices, as well as the large number of tourist places, malls, recreational places, and large and popular markets. And large and beautiful public parks, including Sami Abdel Rahman Park, Al-Manara Park, Peshmerga Park, and others.
