    Today, Wednesday, the US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, called on the Iraqi team to attend the joint defense dialogue in light of the strategic framework agreement between the United States and Iraq, which aims to advance the defense partnership.
    And the US Department of Defense said, in a statement, that “Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin met in Baghdad with Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani and Iraqi Defense Minister Thabet al-Abbasi to reaffirm the strategic partnership between the United States and Iraq and the commitment of the United States and the international coalition, at the invitation of the Iraqi government, to provide advice and assistance.” and empowerment of the Iraqi Security Forces to ensure the enduring defeat of ISIS.”
    The US Secretary praised "the tremendous progress achieved by the Iraqi security forces and their leading role in the fight against ISIS, and encouraged the continuation of the return of the displaced and ISIS detainees from northeastern Syria."
    Minister Austin and the Sudanese Prime Minister renewed, according to the statement, their mutual commitment to long-term defense cooperation as a fundamental pillar of the strategic and comprehensive partnership between the United States and Iraq.
    Austin called on the Iraqi team to "attend the joint defense dialogue that will be held under the supervision of the Office of Secretary of Defense Austin in light of the strategic framework agreement between the United States and Iraq, which aims to advance the defense partnership."
