    The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, and the Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, stressed, during their meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, the necessity of obtaining a fair share of water and increasing the water releases of the Euphrates River.
    The media office of the President of the Republic stated in a statement: “The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received, at the Baghdad Palace, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.”
    The statement indicated that "at the outset of the meeting, the President welcomed the Turkish Foreign Minister, stressing the depth of the historical relations that bind the two neighboring countries, and the importance of working to strengthen and develop them and expand the horizons of cooperation in the economic, commercial and environmental fields, and the water and energy file, in a way that serves the mutual interests of the Iraqi and Turkish peoples."
    Minister Fidan explained in this context, "It is hoped that the Turkish Minister of Trade will visit Iraq next week, while the President of the Republic expressed his hope that the visit will contribute to the advancement of bilateral relations."
    Regarding the water file, President Rashid stressed "the importance of reaching understandings between the two countries regarding obtaining a fair and sufficient share of water that covers the necessary needs of our people," noting that "Iraq is suffering from a severe water crisis that has greatly affected the overall public life of Iraqis due to low Transboundary water flow in the Tigris and Euphrates rivers and their tributaries.
    He pointed to "the importance of absorbing all aspects, especially the water crisis borne by both sides," explaining "the seriousness of the Iraqi side in making unremitting efforts to rationalize water use, rehabilitate irrigation and sanitation systems through the use of modern technologies, improve water management and build dams and reservoirs."
    In turn, Minister Fidan stressed that "Turkey is keen to find radical solutions to the water problem, and there is a continuous follow-up by his government to address the water shortage in Iraq," expressing his hope that "a joint meeting will be held between the experts of the two countries to reach actual solutions."
    And he added, "His country is committed to supporting Iraq's efforts to consolidate its security and stability, and it desires to consolidate the relations that have linked the two countries since ancient times, in a manner that achieves common interests."
    And he added, "Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is determined to visit Iraq to follow up the existing issues in addition to the files included in the visit program, as President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid welcomed President Erdogan's visit to Baghdad."
    The meeting discussed the security situation, the importance of preventing security breaches and abuses, and the need to respect national sovereignty.
    In the meantime, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani called on the Turkish side to increase water releases from the Euphrates River.

    During the meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed the Iraqis’ confrontation with terrorism, indicating that “security and stability are a priority for the Iraqi government, and it will not allow any party or organization, under any name, to tamper with security or use Iraqi lands as a starting point for attacking neighboring countries, and this is a firm principled position as well.” The text of the curtain.

    He stressed, “The importance of consensus on this file for the common interest and preservation of mutual rights, and it was agreed to form a permanent committee between the two countries to deal with the water file.”
    For his part, the Turkish minister conveyed "President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's greetings, appreciating the efforts of the Iraqi government in combating terrorism and striving to improve the infrastructure, and expressed Turkey's desire and willingness to support Iraq in various fields, stressing the serious approach and keenness to solve the outstanding problems between the two countries."
    On the other hand, Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi stressed the need to find solutions to the water problem, and for Iraq to obtain a fair share of water.
    And the media office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives stated, in a statement: “The Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, and his accompanying delegation.”
    The statement added that “the meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to enhance mutual cooperation in all fields, including the economic, security and investment fields, in addition to discussing the oil file and the need to solve the problems of the export file, and about agreeing to form a permanent committee between the two countries to deal with the water file.” The meeting dealt with developments in the situation in the region, and the importance of coordination between Iraq and Turkey on various issues of common concern, in a way that serves the interest of the two friendly peoples.
    Al-Halbousi emphasized “the necessity of finding solutions to the water problem, Iraq’s obtaining a fair share of water, increasing releases of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, the importance of bilateral cooperation in this important field, and benefiting from Turkish experiences in improving and developing water systems in Iraq.”
