    Baghdad today - Baghdad
A document signed by 15 representatives of Nineveh Governorate appeared today, Friday (September 15, 2023), which included a request not to dismiss Nineveh Governor Najm al-Jubouri from his position.
Al-Jubouri, who comes from a Sunni Arab family, is “accused,” according to representatives of Nineveh, of being completely subject to the authority of the Kurdistan Democratic Party led by Masoud Barzani in Erbil.
According to the representatives’ opinion in the document, “the decision to remove the governor from his position is subject to the efforts of parties that they said are political and personal, and that Nineveh enjoys security stability,” according to their expression.

On (July 30, 2023), the representative of Nineveh Governorate, Waad Qaddo, said that the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Minister of Interior in the Kurdistan Region, Reber Ahmed, run Nineveh Governorate and not its governor, Najm al-Jubouri. According to him.
Qaddo told “Baghdad Today”: “We do not want to dismiss the governor now because it will be a political dismissal, and if they wanted to benefit Nineveh, Al-Jubouri would have been dismissed a year from now, and not months before the provincial council elections” scheduled for next December.
He added, "Governor Al-Jubouri is run by the Democratic Party, even though he is a (Sunni Arab), but he works with the Democratic agenda and cannot take any decision without the approval of the Kurdistan Party," as he put it.
Qaddo pointed out that “the region’s Interior Minister (Riber Ahmed) is the one who runs the governorate instead of Al-Jubouri, who is a tool in the party’s hands,” as he described it.
Regarding the move to dismiss the governor, Qaddo said: “We have wanted that for a year and not now, because we are heading to the provincial council elections.”
It seems that Najm Al-Jubouri is also aware of the decision to dismiss him and that the parties he is seeking refuge in are no longer able to continue defending his continuation of his position for a longer period, according to his statements on (April 26, 2023), where he announced the possibility of leaving the position assigned to him, while indicating the possibility of taking over. Woman "Kursi" Governor of Nineveh.
Al-Jubouri said in a circulating video clip followed by “Baghdad Today” that “the chair - referring to the position of governor - does not last for anyone,” stressing that “he will leave it today or tomorrow.”
He pointed out that "the positions are not monopolized by anyone, and it is possible that there will be a woman assuming the position of governor of Nineveh."
