    Baghdad today - Erbil
Today, Thursday (October 19, 2023), the spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce in the Kurdistan Regional Government, Fathi Al-Mudarres, revealed the volume of trade exchange and Iranian companies registered in the region.
Al-Mudarris told Baghdad Al-Youm, “Iranian companies come in second place after Turkish companies, and there are 470 Iranian companies registered in the region.”
He added, "Trade between the region and Iran is witnessing a significant recovery, and there is a significant Iranian contribution to filling the needs of the local market in the region, especially in Sulaymaniyah."
He continued, "Iranian companies contribute to construction and housing, and there are also factories and laboratories inside Kurdistan."
Earlier, the Iranian Consul in Sulaymaniyah, Muhammad Mahmoudian, announced that the volume of trade exchange between the Kurdistan Region and Iran amounted to more than two billion dollars within 6 months.
During a press conference, Mahmoudian called on "all companies and investors in Sulaymaniyah and the Kurdistan Region to participate in the trade and economic exhibition that will be held in Tehran early next month."
He explained, "Iran and the Kurdistan Region seek to increase the volume of trade exchange between the two sides through the border between the two sides, which is estimated at about 580 kilometers within six border crossings."
He added, "The Islamic Republic of Iran has completed its preparations to hold the largest trade exhibition on the third of next October with the participation of major countries and companies. Hence, we extend an official invitation in the name of the Islamic Republic of Iran to all companies and investors in Sulaymaniyah and the Kurdistan Region to participate in this major economic event."
Mahmoudian explained, "During the first half of this year, the volume of trade exchange between the region and Iran was estimated at two and a half billion dollars, and we are now seeking to increase this amount by holding exhibitions and other joint works."
Regarding the facilities required for Kurdish investors wishing to invest in Iran, the Iranian consul confirmed, “One of the reasons for our presence in Sulaymaniyah is to facilitate the requirements of investors from both sides, and we are fully prepared to facilitate all investment requirements.”
