{International: Al-Furat News} Sharp divisions continued between the United States and its Arab partners regarding their response to the Israeli war against Hamas after Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, met with his counterparts from a number of Middle Eastern countries in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Saturday.
At the meeting, Arab leaders called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, while Blinken reiterated US opposition, arguing that it would give Hamas time to regroup and launch another attack on Israel.

The foreign ministers of Jordan and Egypt stood alongside Blinken in a press conference after the summit, and again called for an immediate ceasefire and strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Gaza, while Blinken again called on Israel to “take all possible measures” to prevent civilian casualties, which are The message he conveyed in meetings in Tel Aviv on Friday.

Blinken called for a temporary humanitarian truce to facilitate the entry of fuel into the war-torn sector and the removal of civilians, and he urged Israeli officials to establish such temporary pauses during his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the war cabinet on Friday, but hours later Netanyahu publicly rejected the idea, Saying that a ceasefire will not be allowed until the hostages held by Hamas are released.

However, following his meetings in Amman, Blinken sought to emphasize points of common interest between the United States and its regional partners, saying: “We meet here today and share the same interest and basic goal: ending this conflict in a way that ensures lasting peace and security in the region... May We have different views and positions on some of the steps necessary to achieve this goal, but today, we reaffirmed our individual commitments to continue working toward this goal.”

Blinken continued: “We all agreed on the importance of using our influence and capabilities to deter any state or non-state actor from opening another front in this conflict or taking other destabilizing actions.”

For his part, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said, "Collective punishment, Israel's targeting of innocent civilians, medical facilities and paramedics, in addition to the attempt to force Palestinians to leave their lands cannot be legitimate self-defense at all."

Blinken attended the summit called for by the Jordanian Foreign Minister and attended by senior diplomats from Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, in addition to the Secretary of the Palestine Liberation Organization.
