There is constant confusion regarding the judicial rulings issued by the Federal Court, and a media whirlwind occurs after every important ruling in a pivotal case, such as the lawsuit for fraud in the elections, and the determination of the largest bloc, and not the least of which is the dismissal of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, on the grounds of “fraud.” Despite everything that is said, the Federal Court continues to consider the cases submitted to it, without being influenced by the talk and accusations taking place. Legal expert Majid Majbas described the Iraqi judiciary as the most sober in the world, pointing to the dismissal of the lawsuits of many different political blocs. Majbas told “Al-Sabah”: “The public looks at the issue in a different way, and it demands the Federal Court to issue decisions in an almost Random." He added, "The courts are not an executive body, but rather consider the cases submitted to them that are fully-fledged, and they are obligated to issue the appropriate ruling," pointing out that "the decision to dismiss Al-Halbousi is absolutely legal and has nothing to do with political conflicts." He continued, "The judicial ruling was based on evidence that has been adjudicated.” He stated that “the Iraqi judiciary has nothing to do with the wishes of the masses or the interests of the parties,” and warned that “there is in the science of pleadings that the ruling decision must be fair, convincing, and based on conclusive evidence and has nothing to do with the conviction of the street.” Majbas stressed. He said, “Every lawsuit has a winning party and a losing party, and the loser always resorts to questioning the judiciary,” praising the Iraqi judiciary, “which has proven more than once that it is far from political conflicts, and has rejected lawsuits from all influential political blocs.” He concluded by saying: “The Iraqi judiciary is... The most reliable judiciary in the world.” Politically, a number of politicians and media figures took advantage of the ruling issued against Al-Halbousi, and linked it to the proximity of local elections, which was denied by political analyst Kazem Al-Hajj. Al-Hajj told “Al-Sabah”: “The Iraqi judiciary is a safety valve for the entire state, especially At the level of political disputes,” he added, “The Federal Court looks into political disputes and interprets the constitutional problems, and that what was issued in the case of Al-Halbousi’s dismissal came within the legal frameworks,” noting that “the lawsuit lasted 11 months, and the date of issuance of the ruling came by coincidence and has nothing to do with the elections.” He stressed that “the Iraqi judiciary is not subject to any internal or external political pressure, and decisions are issued according to the legal period based on the merits of the case,” stressing that “political forces do not have any authority over the Iraqi judiciary.”
