Today, Monday, a member of the Democratic Party parliamentary bloc, Mahma Khalil, called on the Sunni political forces to expedite the selection of their candidate for the presidency of the House of Representatives.

Khalil said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, “The Constitution, in its Twelfth Article, confirmed that the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives would be filled during the first session, and that keeping it vacant will cause a constitutional vacuum.”
He added, "The political forces must quickly select one or more candidates and push them to the state administration coalition to approve one of the names."
Khalil continued, "The position of presidency of the House of Representatives does not belong to the Sunnis, but to all Iraqis," noting that "the Kurdistan Democratic Party will have an opinion about the candidate."
Khalil called on the Sunni political forces to "make a quick choice, but not until after the provincial council elections."
The Federal Supreme Court had previously decided to terminate the membership of the ousted Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, based on a forgery lawsuit filed by Representative Laith al-Dulaimi. Ended/25 AD
