Shafaq News/ The Supreme Committee for Elections for Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the Kurdistan Region announced the organization of elections for the councils of these chambers the day after tomorrow, Thursday, while indicating the numbers of merchants who are entitled to vote, the number of ballot boxes and their distribution among the provinces of the region.
A member of the Supreme Committee, Governor of Erbil, Omid Khoshnaw, said in a press conference attended by Shafaq News Agency, “After submitting recommendations and taking notes regarding the elections of the chambers of commerce and industry in the Kurdistan Region, we decided that the elections for the councils of these chambers will be the day after tomorrow, Thursday 11/30/2023.”
He added, "The Supreme Committee for Evaluation concerned with this matter was established with the membership of representatives from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the governorates, administrative courts, chambers of commerce, and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the region," noting that "according to statistics, there are 28 thousand merchants, all of whom are members of the four chambers of commerce and industry in Kurdistan." (Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Dohuk, and Halabja) and he has the right to participate in the elections.”
Khoshnaw continued by saying, "More than 93 ballot boxes will be available for voting, but the largest percentage of them will be in Erbil Governorate, with about 30 ballot boxes."
