Today, Wednesday, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers revealed the number of schools completed within the Chinese agreement, while indicating that more than 120 schools will be completed by the end of this year.
The General Secretariat said, “The Department of National Projects and School Buildings in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers is continuing and continuing to monitor the stages of work and completion rates in the project in all locations in the governorates,” indicating that “school buildings targeted remote areas, villages, and rural areas to meet the need for schools.”
She added that "the follow-up teams continue to carry out the duties of field visits in direct coordination with the Resident Engineer Department in the Ministry of Construction and Housing," noting that "there are weekly meetings with all representatives of the General Secretariat with the two implementing companies under direct supervision and follow-up by the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers."
She stated that "the model school buildings project is the first to be implemented within the framework agreement between Iraq and China and is supervised by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers," explaining that "this project is one of the most important priority files in the government program and receives the attention of the Prime Minister."
She confirmed that "the number of buildings for the first phase is one thousand schools distributed among the governorates according to three criteria, which are the population percentage for each governorate, caravan and mud schools, and double- and triple-shift schools," pointing out that "the project is one of the first of its kind in Iraq, in terms of designs, engineering details, and even Building materials used.
She pointed out that “the building designs were implemented by the National Center for Engineering Consultation in the Ministry of Construction and Housing,” pointing out that “the designs are four, which include three capacities of 12, 18, and 24 rows. The area of each school ranges from 2,500 to 3,000 square meters, which is double the traditional schools that were Built in Iraq.
She explained that "each school contains four or five additional halls for laboratory and electronic studies, as well as a library and a meeting room," noting that "accomplishment rates vary from one site to another, and there is progress in work."
She stated that “there is no noticeable delay, and the completion rates are in parallel with the plan,” noting that “large proportions of school buildings have reached the stages of external completion and the transition towards internal completion.”
She indicated that "the number of schools completed so far is 30 schools distributed among the governorates, and it is scheduled to be completed at a range of (120-128) schools by the end of this year."
