Today, Wednesday, the General Tax Authority confirmed its work to keep pace with modern tax systems, while indicating the signing of several agreements with several international and Arab countries to prevent double taxation.
The head of the authority, Ali Waad, said at the “Reforming the Tax System in Iraq” conference: “We strive with all our ability to reach the most advanced systems in the world,” indicating that “applying the self-assessment system is the first result of work to combat corruption in the tax.”
He added, "The authority has contracted with electronic payment companies," stressing that "electronic work has greatly facilitated transactions, preserved funds, and prevented extortion."
He pointed out that “electronic communication with the tax, using barcodes, takes place between us and the relevant departments, including traffic and customs,” noting that “several branches of the authority will be opened in the rest of the governorates.”
He stressed, "Signing several agreements with several international and Arab countries to prevent double taxation."
The conference, “Reforming the Tax System in Iraq,” was held today, Wednesday, under the patronage and presence of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani.
