The Ministry of Agriculture concluded contracts with the Ministry of Industry and Minerals to manufacture nearly ten thousand modern irrigation systems for its account.
The Ministry’s Administrative Undersecretary, Dr. Mahdi Sahar al-Jubouri, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: His Ministry has concluded contracts with the Ministry of Industry to manufacture ten thousand modern irrigation systems for it, which, once completed, will be distributed among those entitled to it during the coming months, revealing that his Ministry has concluded contracts with Reputable international companies, and several tenders have recently been held in the same context.
He stressed that the federal budget provided good allocations to purchase modern fixed and pivotal irrigation systems with the aim of distributing them among farmers in Baghdad and the governorates, contributing to rationalizing the consumption of already scarce water shares and using them rationally in other large agricultural areas, in addition to strengthening projects that did not receive the water share previously, calling on the farmers To invest rainwater in watering crops, and not waste it.
Al-Jubouri confirmed that his ministry has taken several measures to rationalize the use of surface water, which were previously planned by releasing water from the Tigris and Euphrates rivers to irrigate lands within the current winter season of the irrigated area of 1.5 million dunams, noting that the rains provided complete germination irrigation for the central and southern governorates of The country.
