Advisor to the Prime Minister for Social Protection Affairs, Dr. Sanaa Al-Moussawi, told “Al-Sabah” on the sidelines of her participation in the third scientific conference to revive the legacy of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) in Najaf Al-Ashraf: The most important initiative of the government was to increase the amounts of loans for the unemployed from eight million dinars to 50 million. An interest-free dinar, so that young people can obtain their entitlement to establish income-generating projects.
He added that the government also implemented the Social Security Law to support workers in the private sector, as retirement salaries were calculated close to what is calculated for a government employee, and thus provided the future guarantee that young people are looking for when heading to a government job, so all workers must register in Social Security in order to protect their rights. And maintain it.
Al-Mousawi explained that the government included more than two million families in the social protection network, through field research in the poorest areas, and adopting the electronic window and modern registration programs, to reach its goal of alleviating poverty, expressing her hope that all of these programs will contribute, in addition to Increasing the food ration and student scholarships for families covered by social protection and health insurance to radically address poverty in the country.
She pointed out that there is also a need to address the housing crisis that poor families suffer from, by distributing plots of land in serviced areas, granting construction loans or building complexes for families included in the protection network.
Regarding her participation in this conference, Al-Moussawi stated that it is no secret to everyone that scientific research is the source of initiating the development of any sector, and in this conference we are trying to benefit from the methods adopted by the Commander of the Faithful Ali bin Abi Talib (peace be upon him) in alleviating poverty, and we are also benefiting from Research into developing laws related to this human aspect.
The conference was held over two days under the title (Principles of Social Welfare and Combating Poverty in the Heritage of Imam Ali (peace be upon him), sponsored by the Holy Abbasid Shrine and a number of scientific and religious institutions, and under the supervision and organization of the Al-Maraya Center for Studies and Media.
Regarding the details of the conference, the director of the center, Haider Al-Zarkani, told “Al-Sabah”: It included four sessions, in which 20 scientific research papers were presented by university professors and clerics, indicating that these studies discussed the policies followed by the Commander of the Faithful, Ali bin Abi Talib (peace be upon him), in investigating... Social justice, combating poverty, and achieving economic development. It also discussed the procedures followed in combating corruption, achieving equality, citizenship, and human rights, in addition to the rights of the orphan child in the thought of Imam Ali (peace be upon him).
