    Today, Thursday (December 14, 2023), the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, issued 4 directives related to the elections and regarding granting employees specific leave to cast their votes.
    An informed source told "Baghdad Today", "The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, directed that the special vote for members of the Iraqi army be held on 12/16/2023," while he directed that "military college students be granted leave for the period from 12/17/2023." Until 12/19/2023.”
    He added, "The ranks whose contracts were terminated (who were returned to service) and members of the Second Joint Brigade were granted leave for the period from 12/17/2023 to 12/20/2023."
    He continued, "Al-Sudani also directed that civil servants be granted leave for the period from 12/16/2023 until 12/19/2023."
    Earlier, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani set December 18 as the date for holding the 2023 provincial council elections.
