    Prime Minister Mahmoud Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed today, Tuesday (February 6, 2024), that constitutional principles prohibit the use of Iraqi lands to attack neighboring countries. 
    Al-Sudani's media office said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani received, this morning, Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Guler, accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Army." 
    He added, "During the meeting, relations between the two neighboring countries were discussed, and the importance of strengthening bilateral security cooperation, in a way that contributes to achieving the security and stability of the two countries." 
    Al-Sudani explained, according to the statement, “The security of Iraq and Turkey is interconnected, as is the case with the security of neighboring countries,” indicating “the importance of these visits for greater coordination and understanding between the two countries in the field of supporting security and stability.” 
    He stressed "Iraq's commitment to the constitutional principles that confirm the prevention of using Iraqi lands to attack neighboring countries, and many measures have been taken in this regard, especially at the border strip between Iraq and Turkey," stressing at the same time that "Iraq refuses to infringe on its sovereignty and any measures to settle scores on its land." ". 
    Al-Sudani also stressed “the importance of maintaining security in Syria, as it is linked to the national security of Iraq and Turkey,” noting “the necessity of coordination between the two countries in order to create the conditions for stability required for the implementation of important projects, such as the strategic development road, which includes projects for railways and highways linking the port of Al-Faw.” Al-Kabir in the city of Basra on the southern Turkish border,” according to the statement.
    For his part, the Turkish Minister conveyed, according to the statement, “the greetings of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and his country’s desire to maintain cooperative relations with Iraq, and to ensure joint security coordination in the field of intelligence and combating terrorism,” expressing “the Turkish government’s interest in the Strategic Development Road Project, as it is one of the projects.” "Promising projects that bring development and prosperity to Iraq, Turkey and neighboring countries." 
    The statement indicated that "the meeting touched on the bloody events taking place in the Palestinian territories in Gaza, the occupation authorities' continuation of their brutal aggression against the Palestinian people, their obstruction of ceasefire efforts, and the importance of the role of the international community and major powers in playing a real role to save our Palestinian people from crimes of genocide." and starvation policies.
