    On Sunday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed to allow international companies to implement the Nebras petrochemical project, and to complete a consensual settlement with Shell Company, which withdrew from implementing the project.
    The Prime Minister’s media office said in a statement, seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that “Al-Sudani chaired, this evening, Sunday, a meeting devoted to discussing the completion of the Nebras Petrochemical Project, which is one of the projects that have been lagging since 2015, and which the government is focusing on implementing and working on in accordance with reform priorities.” "Economic."
    The statement added, "The meeting discussed appointing a consulting body for the project to undertake the technical aspects and specifications and follow up on the quality of technological paths in designs and production units."
    The Prime Minister directed, according to the statement, “that the Ministry of Industry and Minerals undertake the completion of the consensual settlement with Shell, which informed the government of changing its work strategy and moving to focus more on gas projects in Iraq, thus paving the way for other international companies to implement this important and vital project.”
     The statement continued, "Al-Sudani directed that the Ministry of Oil submit a report on international companies wishing to work and undertake implementation, in accordance with the specifications and standards required for the project facilities," noting that "during the meeting, emphasis was placed on crystallizing and studying the administrative structure that will manage the project and the implementation and operation processes."
    He explained, "Shell has withdrawn from the Nebras project following a change in the company's plans regarding petrochemicals around the world, and the focus on the gas sector. The company's continuation of work in Iraq, which has continued for ten years, has been confirmed, and the desire to expand in the field of investment has been confirmed." Associated gas, in a meeting between the Prime Minister and the company’s CEO, held on the sidelines of His Excellency’s recent visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
