    Baghdad today - Salah al-Din
    Director General of the Northern Refineries, Adnan Muhammad Hamoud, confirmed today, Saturday (February 24, 2024), that the opening of the Northern Refinery in Baiji is a qualitative leap in the history of refinery in the Ministry of Oil, indicating that it will contribute to reducing the import of petroleum products.
    Hammoud said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani and his deputy Oil Minister Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad had a role in accelerating the completion of the rehabilitation and re-installation of machines in the North Refinery,” noting that “the dream of operating has become a reality today according to the capabilities of... "The project will reach 150,000 barrels . "
    Hammoud added, “The current production of the North Refinery is 110 thousand barrels because the storage capacity is full,” pointing out that “the coming period will witness an increase in production according to the highest capacity, which is 150 thousand barrels .”
    He explained that "the production is delivered to the Petroleum Products Distribution Company, which delivers it to the governorates according to the need so that most of the governorates benefit from the company's production  ," stressing that "the interest in the refining sector is an indication of the conscious mind of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Oil, since the refining sector and the interest in it will enter the treasury." The state has huge sums of money that exceed the amount of crude oil it exports . ”
    Yesterday, Friday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani opened the Al-Shamal Refinery in Baiji District, Salah al-Din Governorate. 
    Al-Sudani's media office said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani opened the Al-Shamal refinery in Baiji after its rehabilitation, and it stopped for more than 10 years."
    On (August 15, 2023), Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani announced that work would continue throughout the day on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the North Refinery in the Al-Samoud complex in Baiji, with a capacity of 150 thousand barrels per day, and it is planned to be completed by the end of 2024.
