Today, Saturday (March 9, 2024), member of the Basra Provincial Council, Hassan Shaddad Al-Faris, revealed the details of the meeting with the local government and Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani on the sidelines of his visit to the governorate.
Al-Faris told "Baghdad Today", "The Sudanese pledged during the meeting to support the governorate financially to clear lagging projects, as well as establishing new and strategic projects," noting that "the Council asked the Prime Minister to proceed with activating Basra, the economic capital of Iraq, and not to delay this matter any further." .
Al-Faris stated, "The Sudanese will remain in the governorate tomorrow to visit the north of the governorate. He is expected to go to the Qurna district to visit its project and to visit the city district to see its reality and meet with the tribal sheikhs there."
On Saturday morning, Al-Sudani visited Basra Governorate and opened the steel and iron rolling mill, more than 20 years after it stopped.
