    Economy News - Baghdad
The German government confirmed, on Saturday, the continuation of technical and logistical support for Iraq in printing passports and national cards and providing expertise, indicating his country’s aspiration to enhance cooperation in the fields of health, electricity and infrastructure, and its support to promote economic reform.
Deputy German Ambassador Maximilian Rasch said in a press conference on the occasion of the second phase of the national card project, which was reviewed by Al-Iqtisad News, that “the Iraqi-German partnership between the public and private sectors has an impact on every Iraqi citizen, as the Ferdus Company, a branch of the German Federal Printing Office, has been operating since... The year 2019 began printing passports and national cards,” pointing out that “this company, through its factory in Iraq, is one of the most prominent links to the fruitful economic relationship with Iraq, represented by the production of identification papers for Iraqis, as well as the transfer of knowledge and skills to Iraqi employees, which ensures the extension of cooperation and the empowerment of the Iraqi workforce.” .

He added, "The results of this partnership are not limited to achieving commercial gains or developing bilateral relations at the level of printing identification papers. Rather, the project will contribute to laying the foundation for the digitization of public services for citizens, especially since governments need to build their electronic governments to be able to serve their citizens appropriately in the present." And the future.”

He continued, "More than a year ago, the Iraqi government agreed with its German counterpart on an ambitious agenda within the framework of a joint German-Iraqi action program that focuses many of its priorities on the economic sector, as Germany committed to supporting the Iraqi economy by focusing on the private sector and investing inside Iraq and achieving tangible progress in this regard." Efforts.

He pointed out that "what the government and German companies want is to support Iraq in a direct and tangible way by working in the electricity, health and infrastructure sectors," stressing that "his government welcomes support for Iraq in achieving economic reform and improving the investment climate."
