Yesterday, Monday, the French Consul General in Erbil, Yan Prime, confirmed to the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani, his country’s readiness to address the disputes between Erbil and Baghdad.
This came during Barzani’s reception, in the Salah al-Din resort, of the French consul.
During the meeting, the file of the regional parliament elections and the position and observations of the Kurdistan Democratic Party related to the elections were highlighted. In addition to pointing out the importance of the elections in the Kurdistan region, the French consul in Erbil stressed that his country supports the Kurdistan region to be strong and stable and to resolve the complexities and concerns of the political parties in the region. The region. He also expressed France's readiness to assist the parties concerned in the Kurdistan region in order to overcome political crises and address disputes with the federal government.
During the meeting, Barzani praised France's role in supporting the cause of the people of Kurdistan, describing the relations between the Kurdistan and French peoples as historic and unique.
Barzani stressed that the Kurdistan Democratic Party is the founder of legitimacy and elections in the region, and during the past two years the Kurdistan Democratic Party has made every effort to hold the elections on time, but the holding of the elections has been obstructed, and it has openly resorted to foreign hands and the Federal Court in order to place obstacles. In the face of holding fair and transparent elections, depriving the national and religious components of the elections, depriving hundreds of thousands of voters of their right to vote, not granting Halabja its right to the real number of seats, and imposing wrong procedures and mechanisms for holding the elections, which makes the elections not reflective of the true voices of the people of Kurdistan.
The Kurdish leader stressed that the Kurdistan Democratic Party supports holding free and fair elections without any interference or prior design, as the positions of the Kurdistan Democratic Party aim to thwart plans aimed at confiscating the will of the people of Kurdistan.
In another aspect of the meeting, Barzani stressed the need to address all technical obstacles and constitutional and legal violations and raise the will and true voice of the people of Kurdistan away from conspiracies and prior results. He also called on the international community to help monitor and ensure the holding of free and real elections that serve legitimacy and the true voice of the people of Kurdistan.
