Services will enter 13 areas.. Al-Zubair will convert heavy sewage into fertilizers.. and infrastructure has reached 87%

The Mayor of Al-Zubair District, Abbas Maher, confirmed that the completion rate of the second phase of the Al-Zubair District infrastructure project reached 87%, which includes 13 areas, including “Al-Sahafiyeen 1, 2, and Al-Rayez,” while Al-Narjis Company, which is implementing the project, completed the work of “casting the foundations” for the service buildings of the pS3 rain station. Maher pointed out that the completion rate in the first phase amounted to 22%, because work on it was slow before it was transferred from a ministerial project to the governorate’s budget, with a total cost for the two phases amounting to one trillion and 500 billion dinars.
Abbas Maher - District Commissioner of Al-Zubair District:
In recent days, the implementing company has begun laying the main transmission lines heading towards the Basra Shatt and the treatment plant, and the heavy sewage lines for the sub- and main areas, to lay the rest of the services, including electricity, water, lighting, communications, and then paving in two layers.
The plan for the first phase is proceeding according to the planning of the implementing company and the local government, despite the great challenge of not disbursing financial advances. Therefore, we call on the Ministry of Finance to release funds for infrastructure projects.
There is a large station being established to receive wastewater, and the completion rate has reached 35%, using international technologies. This represents the first experience in Basra by converting heavy water into clean water used in agriculture, and converting its impurities into fertilizers.
The cost of the infrastructure project in Al-Zubair district is one billion US dollars, which is equivalent to approximately one and a half trillion Iraqi dinars. 850 billion dinars were allocated for the first phase, and 500 billion were allocated for the second phase, and included 13 areas, while 120 billion were allocated for the treatment plant.
