The Parliamentary Services Committee called on the government to address environmental and climate problems, while presenting a proposal on making use of waste, while stressing the need for farmers to use new technologies to reduce water waste.
A member of the Parliamentary Services Committee, Sarwa Muhammad Rashid, said in an interview with “Al-Zawraa”: “The committee proposed allocating a special budget to the Ministry of Environment because the Ministry of Environment is concerned with solving the environmental problem inside Iraq, and we see that this year was abundant in terms of rain and we did not have a problem.” There was no drought, but we must not sit and say that this year will be rainy and the next year will be rainy as well, because there is a possibility that it will not be so. Therefore, the government, according to its own program to solve the drought problem and its mechanisms, must put pressure on farmers to use new technologies to reduce water waste.”
She added, “On the other hand, the government and the ministries, both the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Municipalities, as well as the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Environment, must work according to a coherent plan to solve environmental problems and carry out afforestation operations in the outskirts of governorates, districts and districts, as well as urging farmers to plant trees that can withstand the high temperatures in Iraq and all.” “This falls within the government’s program to improve the environment.”
She pointed out that there is “another fundamental problem within Baghdad and the governorates, which is the lack of recycling plants to recycle the existing waste. Every day, tons of waste are released from Baghdad and are dumped in the outskirts of the capital and other areas, and this waste is not being utilized, while neighboring countries’ governments are working to benefit from the waste. Therefore, The government is thinking about and allocating a special budget to solve this problem and establishing recycling factories to recycle waste and benefit from it.”
She pointed out that “the current government has only one year and six months remaining, and the time must be used to provide services and solve service problems.”[/size]
