[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / The Iraqi Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Haider Mansour Al-Athari, discussed with the Russian Foreign Ministry the possibility of increasing the number of scholarships granted to Iraq.
A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that "the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Russian Federation, Haider Mansour Al-Athari, visited today, Wednesday, the headquarters of the Russian Federal Service for the Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Residing Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation, affiliated with the Russian Foreign Ministry and specializing in education affairs."
He added that "during the visit, Al-Athari met with the head of the service, the deputy in the Russian Duma, Yevgeny Viktorovich Primakov, in addition to the head of the Education and Science Department in the service, Vadim Zaichkov," noting that "Ambassador Al-Athari discussed with Primakov the possibility of studying the competent Russian authorities to allow the return of study invitations for Iraqi students wishing to study in Russian universities, which are currently suspended."
According to the statement, Primakov promised to consider forming a tripartite committee from the service, the Russian Ministry of Interior, in addition to the Russian Ministry of Education and Science to reconsider the decision. The possibility of increasing the number of annual Russian scholarships granted to Iraq was also discussed. /End8[/rtl]
