    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Iraqi sources revealed, today, Thursday (August 8, 2024), the secrets of an American message that arrived in the Iranian capital, Tehran, last Monday evening via an Iraqi mediator.
The sources said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "America is very concerned due to reports from its intelligence agencies about the seriousness of the situation if an open and comprehensive war breaks out in the Middle East and its repercussions on Washington's interests in light of the presence of nearly 40 bases within range of Iranian missiles, accompanied by Russia, China and other countries exploiting any conflict to support America's enemies as a means of attrition in response to what is happening now in Ukraine."
She added, "Washington knocked on the doors of all Arab and even Islamic countries in order to dissuade Tehran from launching a severe strike against Tel Aviv that would lead to an open war. It even sent a message on Monday evening that arrived through an Iraqi mediator, which included several items, most notably the possibility of reviving the nuclear agreement and arranging the papers of common interest in Syria and elsewhere, the possibility of overlooking some economic sanctions, deterring Netanyahu's government on several points, and pressuring to conclude a peace agreement in Gaza that is equal between Tel Aviv and Hamas."
The sources indicated that "the American card delayed the Iranian strike, which was ready according to information last Monday, and may be delayed for a few more days, noting that Netanyahu wants open war to drag America into a war with Iran without caring about its repercussions on Washington and the region."
The sources explained that "the arrival of a high-ranking Russian delegation was a message that the Kremlin stands by Tehran, and that there is already military support beginning to flow, which means that in any future war, Iran will not be alone on the battlefield, and this is what worries America, especially since the recent tremors in the financial market were a result of events in the Middle East."
She added, "According to information, Tehran is studying several messages it has received from Arab and Islamic countries coming from Washington, which sees itself in a predicament in the Middle East because its strategy is to stand against any comprehensive war."
The sources continued by saying, "Iran will respond, but not according to the principle of great destruction, but it is studying the political aspects and what its interest is in any upcoming strike and how it will be, indicating that America is presenting more offers to avoid wars because its interest does not support its current paths, and popular pressure prevents its army from participating in foreign wars."
Last Sunday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told his G7 counterparts in a conference call that any attack, which he expected to be a joint attack between Iran and Hezbollah, could occur within 24 to 48 hours from Monday, according to the American news website Axios.
Amid this anticipation, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, Jim Himes, said that the expected Iranian response against Israel "could be more deadly."
Haimes said that the Iranian response to the assassination of the head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Ismail Haniyeh, may differ from the strike that Iran launched against Israel last April, in response to the bombing of its consulate in Damascus.
The US representative added that there would not be enough time to intercept missiles that might be launched from southern Lebanon against targets in Israel.
Regarding the negotiations for a possible exchange deal and ceasefire in the Gaza Strip between the resistance and Israel, Haymes said that the assassination of Haniyeh and the prominent leader of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Fouad Shukr, "put the ceasefire off the table."
