Shafaq News/ An informed political source revealed that the political forces that won the Kirkuk Provincial Council elections intend to hold an important meeting in the capital, Baghdad, on Saturday evening, to discuss resolving the crisis of forming the local government.
The source told Shafak News Agency, "The main political forces in Kirkuk Governorate will hold an important meeting at the Rashid Hotel in the Green Zone in central Baghdad, in order to decide on the formation of the Kirkuk local government."
The source added, "The meeting will be held at eight o'clock this evening, Saturday," stressing that "the meeting will be very decisive for the political crisis that has been ongoing for many months in Kirkuk Governorate."
It is noteworthy that tomorrow, Sunday, marks the end of the deadline set by the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, to share power among the components of Kirkuk.
Today, Saturday, Kirkuk Provincial Council member for the Arab bloc, Raad Saleh, stated that there is no agreement or nomination of a specific candidate for the position of governor so far.
Saleh told Shafaq News Agency that the Arabs are committed to the position of governor as an electoral entitlement, and that there is no settlement between the winning blocs in the provincial council so far.
The first session of the Council was held on July 11 and remained open, as the Kurdistan National Union bloc and the Babylon bloc sought to hold a session last week to pass the formation of the local government, but a request to postpone the session was submitted after the intervention of the Prime Minister and the leaders of the political blocs, to give the other components a chance to complete their work and participate in the session.
