    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
The Iraqi people, with all their sects, components and doctrines, agree that the judiciary is the impregnable fortress that preserves the nation and the state, and it is the deeply rooted pillar on which the oppressed rely against anyone who dares to attack others, violate the constitution or threaten civil and societal peace.
There are many examples of the Iraqi judiciary standing up to the major challenges that Iraq has faced since 2003, as the Iraqi legislator has established the pillars of protecting the people and the state from collapse or cracking due to its strength and decisiveness at the appropriate time and place.
Iraq is currently experiencing the most severe wave of corruption in its history, which has spread to all aspects of the state, as acknowledged by the leaders of the political system, who are described as “people of solution and contract.” Even the wise religious authority described the battle against corruption as “more ferocious than the war against ISIS.”
Corruption, which the Iraqi people have cried out against several times in the form of protests and anger, and which they have given the adornment of their youth in an attempt to get rid of and convey their voice to the wise authority and to the people of solution and contract, is being confronted by the judiciary with all strength and transparency despite all the miserable attempts to distort or undermine it.
The Iraqi judiciary has worked to put the corrupt before the law on many occasions, embarrassing its supporters from some political forces that have spread corruption in the land, through integrity battles and corruption crimes courts that have proven to the Iraqis that it is their impregnable fortress against the ignorant and the obscurantists.
This was confirmed today, Thursday (September 5, 2024), by the leader of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, who said: “The judiciary has all respect and it is the authority to which we return in all crises, and we have complete confidence in it, and we hope that this confidence and efforts will continue in the process of controlling all matters that require a judicial decision, and that attempting to attack it is more dangerous than the repercussions of terrorism.”
