Baghdad/Al-Masala: The announcement of the launch of the first cybersecurity platform in Iraq by the National Security Service is an event of great importance not only at the security level, but also at the social and economic levels. This event comes in the context of the increasing security challenges facing modern societies, especially in light of rapid technological developments and the reliance of individuals and institutions on digital networks in various areas of life. It seems that the government of Mohammed Al-Sudani has taken the appropriate step to enhance Iraqi digital security.
The National Security Service announced, on Friday, the launch of the first cybersecurity platform in Iraq.
With the increasing reliance on technology in all areas of daily life, personal data and sensitive information have become more vulnerable to cyber attacks.
Hence, the importance of the new platform “Aman”, which aims to protect Iraqi users from potential digital dangers. Institutions and individuals alike now need advanced means to protect their data from hacking or illegal exploitation.
The agency said in a statement: “Based on the security and intelligence responsibility of the National Security Agency in combating all phenomena that threaten societal and national security, we announce the launch of the first cybersecurity platform in Iraq,” noting that “security and military operations alone are not sufficient to confront phenomena. There must be awareness and education campaigns targeting society in order to fortify itself against these phenomena.”
The platform contributes to raising awareness among citizens about the dangers associated with malicious links and harmful files that these links may carry, making users more aware and cautious when interacting with digital content. This enhances individuals’ ability to protect their personal data, especially in light of the rapid digital transformation that Iraq is witnessing.
He added, “Based on this topic, the National Security Service participated in the book fair at the Baghdad International Fairgrounds. The aim of the participation is to build bridges of trust and cooperation with citizens, as well as to introduce the official platforms and the mechanism of communication with the National Security Service,” noting that “more than one team went down to the Baghdad International Fairgrounds. The first team is specialized in cybersecurity, and the second team is a volunteer team that went down to the National Security Service’s special wing, distributing awareness-raising publications.”
The agency pointed out that “this platform secures the links used by citizens for fear that these links may carry some malicious files and also to know whether citizens’ data has been leaked or not,” indicating that “citizens can access this platform, which bears the name Aman, and it is easy to use.”
He explained that “the experimental launch of this platform took place today, and there was agreement from a large number of citizens to try this platform with the aim of protecting and fortifying their personal data.”
